HMC Management Board Will Be Complete Again in 2018

Uwe Fischer to follow Dr Ulla Kopp

Bernd Aufderheide’s contract extended until 2023

Uwe Fischer (49), who has a University diploma in Business Administration, will join the management board at Hamburg Messe und Congress GmbH (HMC) effective 1 January 2018. He will be responsible for the Finance, Technical and Infrastructure as well as Human Resources functions. This decision was made by the company’s Supervisory Board during its most recent meeting. Fischer was previously employed by the food service and hotel management group SV Group where he was Managing Director of the subsidiary SV Care Catering GmbH as well as Strategic Projects Manager at the Langenfeld facility in North Rhine-Westphalia. A native of Nordhorn, Lower Saxony, he had also spent 14 years at Unilever where he held various positions in the Food Solutions and other divisions at company sites in Rotterdam, Brussels, Paris and Hamburg. Uwe Fischer succeeds Dr Ulla Kopp (52) who will leave Hamburg Messe und Congress after a ten-year tenure on 31 October to pursue new career opportunities.

“In Uwe Fischer we have found an outstanding expert for our vacancy. I am very much looking forward to welcoming him to our team and working with him,” said Bernd Aufderheide (58), President and CEO, Hamburg Messe und Congress GmbH whose own contract was renewed early this October and extended by five additional years.

“We are especially pleased to see our HMC management team complete again right at the beginning of the year 2018 which will feature an especially large number of events. With his professional background and international experience, Uwe Fischer is a truly great addition to our management board. We are also happy to announce the early renewal of Bernd Aufderheide’s contract by another five years, after many highly successful years,” said Johann C. Lindenberg, Chairman of the Supervisory Board. “This means our organisation will be in excellent shape to handle the next challenges.”
